job going away

So, had a meeting with the HR department. They are going to "terminate me without cause" on January 17th.

I knew this was going to happen. It sucks that they're doing this, but I feel good about knowing a date.

Since now it's official, and there's no real chance I'll be here for a longer period of time, I finally told my boss that I had been planning to leave before this all started happening. (In order to become a doula, wheeee!) He said it made him feel better. I'm glad. He's a good guy and has given me a lot of support, and this decision was out of his hands.

I suspect I'm going to be somewhat bored that week, especially Wednesday, which would have been my next day for working. Anybody want to get together during the day and do something fun? Bonnie?

It does seem like it would be a relief. What's that thing about crisis=opportunity? It will probably be weird, having to go there and clean out your stuff and everything -- I will be thinking of you, a cuisle mo chroi. Call me if you need an encouraging word.

Actually, I think the weirder part is going to be spending the next week and a half at my job, trying to act like nothing is going on. Cleaning out my stuff on the last day will feel pretty natural, I think.
