the 3rd that I couldn't fit is MSM. I have found personally it helps relieve allergy symtoms, as I'm sure i have unknown food allergies it helps reduce post eating fevers.
I don't know if this is unusual to me, but whenever I try to take most vitamin supplements, I get incredibly nauseated and feel like I'm going to throw up. Sometimes I actually do. I've tried them with or without food, it doesn't seem to really make a huge difference. I've tried the kind without iron (since that can be difficult on your stomach), no difference. I've tried vitamins from the health food store and vitamins from the drugstore, different brands and formulations... everything makes me sick to my stomach.
That's probably reason #1 why I don't take vitamins. :)
If I feel like I'm really in need of vitamins, I'll make myself a smoothie with Spirutein protein powder - it's got a lot of the same vitamins and minerals, plus soy protein, plus it doesn't make me ill.
Specifically, I take chewable vitamins, preff all natural ingredients since they metabolize better than the solid pill (which I've read don't get digested effectively, even when taken with food).
I also take MSM and Arnica occasionally for a knee issue I'm currently having.
i don't take supplements, but i've been using fitday.com to track my nutritional intake, which is really interesting. my local health/organic food store keeps sending home these nutrition glossies in my shopping bags, though, which turn out to be mainly ads for the supplement industry. i actually posted about this recently on my sustainable food blog, http://fresh-eggs.blogspot.com/ (fresh_eggs), because i'm sort of suspicious of the whole thing. should most people take supplements, or should we meet our dietary requirements through food if at all possible?
