more craftiness
Feb. 9th, 2005 03:58 pmSo, in my last crafty post, I didn't tell you all about my new projects.
This is especially relevant because I finished the tea cozy, the muff, and the mittens I was working on. (Pictures will be forthcoming.)
I have started the shawl that I'm making for
bryghtrose, in hopes of finishing it before she moves out. It's a pattern from the slipstitch crochet book I mentioned here a while ago. The colors are warm brown and pumpkin - perfect for her. Even though they're not my colors, I like them, and that's a plus too.
I also bought yarn for the "Letter Have It" bag pattern in the new SNB. It's a bulky rather than the worsted the pattern calls for - bulky was where they had the color I wanted (a nice bright pink, which I'm sure is a big surprise to all of you). I'm thinking about just making the pattern as it stands with the larger yarn. I don't mind the bag being a bit on the big side - I like big bags - and I like long handles, too. My one question is - how do I choose the right size needles? The pattern calls for worsted, but is knitted on elevens (normally you would use eights). Do I go up three needle sizes and buy fourteens, or is there a more complicated process I should use to make it come out right?
Finally, I was completely enchanted by this pattern: http://www.crochetme.com/Feb_Mar_2005/patt_fleuri.html
I guess I just have a thing about girly bags recently. Anyway, I got some gorgeous burgundy super-chunky to make it with, and I think it's going to be awesome. I may not use acrylic handles. I'm not a big fan of them. Perhaps bamboo instead.
