I would like to attend a women's self-defense class in the Boston area. Does anybody know of any good ones?

Note: I am not looking to just join a standard dojo. I need a class that is focused on self-defense, ideally something that you do for six weeks or twelve weeks or whatever and then it's over and you get a little certificate. It's very important that the class be for women, and it would be ideal for the instructor to be a woman as well.

Look for a RAD (Rape and Aggression Defense) course near you. Often workplaces and local police will hold stuff like this for free (mine did a few times). It's an awful lot of common sense, and it's not a martial art--it's all about knowing what to do if someone comes at you on the street, both how to act and how to fight. There was a chance for three fight situations with a "red man" (guy in a padded suit) for practice, and scary though it is, it's a good way to get past the freezing up because you've never done this before problem.

Thanks, this is perfect. I talked to the officer who coordinates this for the Boston Police Department, and she is going to try to get me into a free four-week class starting this week.
