Okay, here we go - another status update.

- I don't know if I posted this already, but I have two signed up paying clients! Whee! Very exciting.
- Spoke to someone from the disability insurance's vocational program. She is going to help me find information about the paperwork that I need to file to start a business, and a program whereby I can send in tax money as I get it rather than annually or quarterly.
- I met with [livejournal.com profile] redjo to discuss having a business-focused website. She gave me some great ideas.
- I gave [livejournal.com profile] catskillz feedback on her initial and subsequent sketches for my logo.
- My new table and chair for my home office have been set up. Oh the stuff that Kaz and I moved. Lots and lots of stuff - I had no idea how much. I also didn't know that NONE of the computer equipment on the weird little table in the corner was hooked up to anything anymore. Discovery the third - there's an outlet over there!
- But, I did straighten the closet behind my desk until the door would close. That was good.
- I also moved my paperwork (at least most of it) and my birth books to the table. I am also working on training myself not to put ANYTHING else on the table. Not even a cup of tea. Only work stuff. I need to make a sign to that effect so my roomates know it is DEATH!! and whatever they put on the table will be tossed.
- I put an extra lightbulb in the overhead. Wow, what a difference.
- The space also looks good enough that I could meet clients here if necessary. It wouldn't be my first preference, but now I do have it as an option.
- I sent out an email expressing interest in a volunteer opportunity for August.
- I talked to people at Isis Maternity Center about attending some childbirth ed classes. My certification requires me to do one. I'm thinking about doing two, though - one in Prepared Childbirth and one in Hypnobirthing. I have dates, I just need to pick when I want to do it.
- I also jumped a hurdle successfully. I had my first interview that didn't go well. I liked the couple, but didn't think I could work with them. I emailed them the next day, and said so, politely and professionally, and offered a referral to another doula. I heard back from them that they felt the same way. No feelings were hurt.
- I also established for myself business hours of ten to three. So, I will work on work stuff then, and not at other times. (In other words, instead of doing it every waking moment and getting really burned out.)

And here is my list of upcoming to-do's. This is more than a month's worth, so nobody panic, especially me. Okay, panicking - shortening the list. I trimmed everything that was on there that I needed to do after something else happened - when this person calls me, etc.

For the space:

- Untangle all the electrical cables. Ideally, find the charger for my PDA (which I suspect I will be selling soon in favor of a smarter cell phone).
- Come up with a better place to put my bags. Right now they're all on the inside of the closet door. Nothing else in there gets used much, so if I find a better place for them, I could leave it mostly closed.
- Get a blotter for the table. I've always wanted a blotter.
- Put out paper, pens, pencils.
- Plug in my cell phone charger in here instead of in my bedroom, since I primarily have it for work. (At least until I'm on call again.)

Files and research:

- Come up with an intake interview - my first prenatal visit is tomorrow.
- Collate the rest of the New Parent Packets I photocopied.
- Make copies of my revised service contract and my list of ritual suggestions for pregnancy and birth for inclusion in the NPP.
- Make a copy of the pregnancy and birth chapter in Circle Round: Raising Children in Goddess Traditions.
- Continue to read Ended Beginnings at a rate that is not overwhelming. It's a pretty painful book to read, so taking it slowly is the right way to go.
- Choose a childbirth class to attend at Isis Maternity.

Marketing and outreach:

- Send messages to a mailing list that I am on which allows professional postings, letting people know that I am "open for business."
- Find out what I would need to do to get on the Poly-friendly Professionals list.
- Call the volunteer program I was interested in again.

Plenty to do! I'm so glad that I have limited my "working hours" to something that's reasonable. That will help me stay in control until I have gotten better at not pushing myself continually.
