Title: A Tapestry of Spells
Author: Lynn Kurland
Series: A Novel of the Nine Kingdoms
Genre: Romantic fantasy
Setting: Doire - one of the Nine Kingdoms.
Reason for Reading: I enjoyed the Star of the Morning trilogy.
Finished In: Weeks.
Pages: 362
Copyright Date: 2010
Cover: An anxious-looking young man holds a sword and longbox. A cloak
First line: "The evil leapt up like a geyser, cascaded down, and washed the boy away with it." (Auspicious, no?)
Best part: I like the way the hero and heroine's feelings for each other are described.
Worst part: Many of the themes of Kurland's other works in this universe seem repeated - secret identities, people having and not having skills with magic and weapons that's not what you'd expect.
Imaginary Theme Song: "Brandy"
Grade: C
Recommended for: If you liked the other Nine Kingdoms stuff you'll probably like this too. If you haven't read them, I suggest starting somewhere else.
