I finally read Diplomatic Immunity, the last (or at least, latest) book in the Vorkosigan series by Lois McMaster Bujold. I liked it okay, but nowhere near as much as I did A Civil Campaign, which was completely hilarious.
I also read the first compilation of Frank Miller's Sin City graphic novels, The Hard Goodbye. I loved it. And now I understand why, upon seeing the movie,
catskillz exclaimed, "It looks just like the comic book!! How did they do that??" Yes, it was very gory and somewhat sexist. Not everyone would like it. But I liked it.
Finally, this morning I read Trickster, by Steven Harper. Those books are nice fluffy crack. Each one contains a strong body of knowledge on something unusual - Australian aboriginal belief, serial killers, cults. Which is cool, because it keeps them from getting boring. Also, there are positive queer characters, and it's kind of kinky. This one especially. And it got away from the telepathy aspect somewhat - it was more of a thriller than sci fi.
I'm realizing that I need more books like this - since I've been working so hard, I need light reading material. Anyone have any suggestions? I'm not usually into romance novels, since generally I want to grab the female characters by the shoulders and shake them until their teeth rattle, but otherwise, anything goes.
