Title: Sandman Slim
Author: Richard Kadrey
Genre: Ummm... same genre as Hellboy. Except it's not a comic.
Reason for Reading: I read a review that said it was really dark and funny. It was.
Pages: 388
Copyright Date: 2002
Cover: A man walking down the road. You see his feet and his shadow. The pavement is gray and cracked.
First line: "I wake up on a pile of smoldering garbage and leaves in the old Hollywood Forever cemetery behind the Paramount Studio lot on Melrose, though these last details don't come to me until later."
Best part: Funny and weird.
Worst part: I wanted the main character (I hesitate to call him a protagonist) to grow more than I feel he did.
Imaginary Theme Song: "Stayin' Alive" by John Travolta
Grade: C+
Recommended for: Anyone with a dark sense of humor that likes things blowing up.
Related Reads: Tagging the Moon by John Picacio and S.P. Somtow, Sin City by Frank Miller, Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman.

Interesting. The words of your review sound very postive, but the C+ grade suggests that it's not worth the time.

Well, for me a B rating means that I would read a book over and over again, and a book can be quite good without my feeling that way. I grade things pretty harshly. :)
