Title: One Grave Too Many
Author: Beverly Connor
Series: Diane Fallon #1
Genre: Forensic mystery.
Pages: 383
Copyright Date: 2003
Cover: Red sky behind a tree and three gravestones. The title is in white block letters with veins running through them, which is creepy when you really look at it.
First line: "His head isn't on straight." Don't you just love that?
Best part: Very engaging story with twists, turns, and simmering tension.
Worst part: It's more like the TV show Bones than the Kathy Reichs novels the show was actually based on. But, on the other hand, it came out before that show. So, maybe Reichs is ripping off Connor, not the other way around?
Imaginary Theme Song: "Can't Get You Out of My Head" - Kylie Minogue
Grade: B-
Recommended for: People that like the show Bones but were disappointed by Reichs' books.
Related Reads: Deja Dead by Kathy Reichs, Have Mercy On Us All by Fred Vargas, A Grave Talent by Laurie R King.

Diane Fallon wants to put the past behind her. As the title suggests, she's seen one grave too many. She takes refuge in solitude and her new job as the director of a natural history museum. But the past always comes back to haunt you. For Diane, it starts with a bone from the woods, and a song.

I really liked this book. I gave it a B- because I would not read it over and over again, but that has more to do with its genre - I don't usually re-read mysteries unless they're really funny. But I think this is a strong beginning and I hope the rest of the series will be just as good - I plan to read it.
