So, I now have the fourth book in the Faerie porn series - A Stroke of Midnight. For those who haven't been playing along, the other books are: A Kiss of Shadows, A Caress of Twilight, and Seduced by Moonlight.

Looking at the overall trend in the titles... the promoters have kind of boxed themselves into a corner, unless they plan to make the next one A Fuck of the Wee Hours. Would A Cuddle of Dawn be next?

What were they thinking when they named the second book? The first title didn't commit them to anything, but after the second, they were doomed. Maybe they thought the series would never take off, never get beyond two or three books. Well, they were wrong. I like my Faerie porn, dammit, especially since the main character isn't a prude like Anita Blake is. (Gee, you could have known by the name!)

That's hi-fuckin'-larious! A Fuck of the Wee Hours.

However, on a slightly related note, I do want to own the Black Jewels Trilogy eventually.

so how is it?

the first half of seduced by moonlight was the purest porn i've seen in a book you could buy in a supermarket. the characters don't even manage to leave the two rooms and a hallway they're in-- every time somebody turns around, they trip over a hot naked person and wind up fucking.

then about halfway in somebody announces an agenda for the next few days and suddenly there's plot! enough plot to tie the sex scenes together, anyway. and even some fight scenes! (even if she keeps talking about how really, that counts as sex too.) it worked out reasonably well, anyway.

I agree with what you said about Seduced by Moonlight. In A Stroke of Midnight, the whole "plot" thing kinda falls down.

I mean, she's trying, a little bit. But it's kind of like, "SEX! SEX! (small plot tidbit) SEX! SEX! SEX! (small plot tidbit)"

The small plot tidbits are interesting... but... you don't get the sense they're really going much of anywhere.

Also, her sex language is getting a little silly. She kept referring to someone's penis as their "body." So, you get lines like, "His body was hard, standing away from his body." Oh come on. :)

I'll do a more complete review when I get home on Sunday.
