me and plants

Today my long-suffering jade aloe plant, Fred, fell over twice. He's been needing a new pot for a while - I'm no expert but even I knew that much. So, I took him over to Pemberton Farms and had him repotted. The nice lady (who did not make fun of me) also trimmed and staked him. The new pot is sort of mauve. She said he is healthy but "leggy" which means that he doesn't have a ton of leaves.
Also,
tsuj made me a lovely bud vase this weekend. So I now have a place to put a little flower if someone gives me one, hanging from my bed.
A few weeks ago,
trouble4hire said she had been thinking we could plant me some mint. I really like mint tea, you know. She said if we put it in a pot outside it wouldn't get too out-of-control, but would still be pretty self-maintaining. I sort of made noises of agreement. Then she said, "So, if we did that, where do you think would be the best place to plant it?" In all honesty I said, "Your house?"
I think of myself as having a black thumb, but Fred has made it through five years if I'm not mistaken, and the lady at the checkout counter said he was beautiful. Aww. I may have to create some flexibility in my anti-plant policy.

Date: 2009-04-08 08:07 pm (UTC)Come fall, it is really great. mid-summer too. Because there is mint tea... and iced mint tea... good for stomache digestion. Refreshing in the bath. Good for skin.
Tends to come back without much coaxing.
