Ice is forming on Sisphysus's rock. (Not to mention his protruding entrails.) Beatrice has put a white lambswool hat on her head. (For purity, you know?) Lillith is wrapping up in a biker jacket and pashmina scarf. Lucifer is dressed head-to-toe in the fur of small, cute, intelligent animals.

Yes, bois and grrls, I have given in and gotten a livejournal.

Why, you might ask? Well, there are several reasons.

1) Five years ago, when I first took my hard anti-live-journal stance, it seems that livejournal's main use was in creating and expanding drama. It has been demonstrated to me that this is no longer the case. To wit, all of my friends seem to have lj accounts these days, and many, even most of them, are not drama queens.

2) Speaking of which, more and more events that I care about are posted on livejournal, not to mention discussions of things that interest me.

3) I am about to lose my job, which will mean I will have even more gobs of free time on my hands, and I really don't want to join any more mailing lists.

4) Where else could I post about crocheting projects and kinky sex in the same place?

I am still concerned about drama avoidance, and will do my best to be careful about that, probably by not posting anything about my relationships (except for the bits that have to do with kinky sex).

What I do intend to post is stuff about the yarn projects I have finished or am working on, books I am reading, DVDs I'm watching, parties I'm attending, and food I'm making. Could be monumentally boring, could be interesting. You be the judge.

Now, all you many many people I know on livejournal, give me love so I feel less insane for doing this!

-An axiom I've developed is this: Ambiguity + negativity = drama. I.e., posting that you feel bad about something/one, without giving details, always causes problems, since lots of people will assume it's about them.

(Ambiguity + positivity, on the other hand, can be really entertaining, in a good way. I've had people wistfully accuse me of sadism, for saying really nice things, without specifying who they apply to.)

-The flip side of that is, when someone else makes an ambiguous + negative post, the best thing to do is assume it isn't about you, and move on.

-Oh, and: Welcome to LJ. You have been assimilated. We have fetishy black outfits. And cookies.
