I took this book with me on a trip I expected to be intense, thinking that if I got stressed out or overwhelmed it would make a nice escape.
This book has the same format as the better-known Second Chances by the same author and photographer. Rescued dogs are pictured with their owners, who write a short accompanying essay (or perhaps tell it to the listed author). Generally it's a story of how they came to join the family, how their transitional time was, and what they're like now. Sometimes information about the dog's life before the adoption is included - generally sad. But the dogs look so happy and loving now. It's very heartwarming.
I think that both the writing and the photography in this book is uniformly good. I think it would make a great gift for any doglover or other person that works with or enjoys the company of animals. Four stars.
