These two graphic novels conclude the main storyline of Rising Stars. The second one was okay. The third one was outstanding. I'd say "read them," but if you read the first one, I know you won't be able to help yourself. Three stars and four and a half stars, respectively.

(I know this is a short review for me, but I just don't have much to say about them except, "Good read!")

"Good read!"

Plus you don't want to give away anything, as the surprises make the story even better.

That is entirely true.

Cute icon, by the way.

That's seems to match with my experience accurately enough, though it's hard to say. I started collecting Rising Stars around issue #3, and was amazed with how well the series started, and felt that it continued strongly through the Critical Maas story arc. I loved the idea, about how 'everything changed', proving finally that the energy had its own intelligence. I'd be curious to see which part of the story the 2nd TPB encompasses, but I do remember things stagnating in the middle, and I think the series even stopped for a period of time.

At the time when I picked up this comic, it was the first one I'd read that so explicitly set a limit on their story arc. I think the first page, even, showed the large stone statue of the heroes, and a narration that explained they were already dead.

If this is your first Straczynski book, I highly recommend 'Midnight Nation'.
