Dexter in the Dark by Jeff Lindsay
Jul. 28th, 2008 01:51 pmThis is the third, but not final book in Lindsay's popular Dexter series. Dexter's nuptials are looming, which should solidify his cover as a human being for a long time. His sister has become aware of his dark side. He is continuing to mentor his two spirit-children. In other words - things are basically normal. And then, for the first time in his life, Dexter's Dark Passenger disappears. Where has it gone, and why?
I liked this book a lot. In general, I feel this series has been consistently good, although the first book still reigns. This book, however, changes the way we see the central character, which is both interesting and a little disappointing. Questions that I thought more interesting unanswered were answered, if you take my meaning. So I can only give it three stars, because while it was extremely enjoyable, I feel it was not good for the series as a whole, if that makes sense.
A fourth book, Dexter by Design, is forthcoming. There is no official release date but it may come out in February 2009.
