Yesterday I finished reading Drowned Ammet by Diana Wynne Jones and Faery Magic by Jo Beverly, Mary Jo Putney, Barbara Samuel and Karen Harbaugh.
Drowned Ammet is the second in Jones' Dalemark Quartet. I really enjoyed Cart and Cwidder, but this one didn't do it for me as much. I found the main characters to be a bit unsympathetic. Back into the PBS pool with you. Three stars.
Faery Magic is an anthology of novellas set in Georgian and Regency England. The novellas are "The Lord of Elphindale," "The Faery Braid," "The Love Talker," and "Dangerous Gifts." I liked "Dangerous Gifts" the most - it played well on the reader's expectations. "The Love Talker" was unobjectionable, and sweet in places. The first two novellas I didn't especially enjoy. Although I might look up more works by Mary Jo Putney, it was nothing to write home about as a collection. Two and a half stars.
