"Have you ever lived with more than one sweetie at a time? Would you? What do you think of multiple relationship households?"

Another great question!

No, I have never lived with more than one sweetie at a time. I can only think of one time in my life when I had co-primaries, two guys that I was equally seriously involved with - call them D and W. However, at that time, we were all students and we all lived at our schools. Both of them were still at school when I had my first apartment. W and I drifted apart, and about a year later, D moved in with me. (I think I'm getting this timeline right but I'm not positive. I haven't thought about it in a while.)

Later on, while living with [livejournal.com profile] mrpet, I had a serious girlfriend that I desired some degree of life-entanglement with. We didn't think that it would work for us to live all together, but we thought it would be fun for her to live next door to us. If that relationship had lasted longer, I think we might have done so.

It's hard for me to imagine living with multiple sweeties in one house, though. (Unless maybe some of them were in a different apartment.) I enjoy my own company and need a lot of solitude. It is somewhat of a challenge for me to live with others.

I don't know many multiple-sweetie households. Most of them that I do know seem to involve former sweeties rather than current sweeties. It seems to me like a great idea in theory - a modern form of a clan-based system - more adults pooling their resources to be more successful - but I haven't seen many examples of it in reality where the romantic aspect of multiple relationships is still flowering.

I'm with you, and also – the idea of more adult pooling resources can be reality without everyone living in the same space. As you pointed out, people can sorta-cohabitate by living near each other.

It's true. We do pool resources with my girlfriend and her partner - they come play with the cats while we are away, feed them sometimes. We make each other soup when somebody's sick, we collaborate on planning events. They came to stay with us when the heater went out in their building. And so on. It's a lovely arrangement.

I love having sweeties within walking distance, partly because it facilitates that. But I think I said that in my response to YOUR question. :)

i lived in a multiple-relationship household for seven years. my previous household was mildly multiply-relationship while i lived there (with me as the mild one), and their bf moved in after i left and has been there (on and off but mostly on) for the last ten years.

Aw, that's the cutest Brodie icon ever. :) Like I said, it's just that I don't know many. Are the relationships still current in your configuration?

Yup. We're sorta N-shaped. Or Z-shaped.

If that makes any sense. :)
