I can't remember the last time I read two books in one day. What a nice thing to do with my vacation! I have enjoyed it immensely.
The View from Saturdays by EL Konigsberg
This book was suggested to me by
samidha a while back. (Yes, all of yous, this does mean I'm reading your suggestions. It just takes a while.) I LOVED it. Yup. The word is not too strong. It is about a group of sixth-graders competing in the state finals in an academic contest. It was sooo good. Read it, if you don't hate YA books.
Something from the Nightside by Simon R. Green
So apparently, Simon R. Green also wants to be Jim Butcher. Too bad, so sad... he is not. He goes on and on about how bad-ass his made-up under-London is, and how bad-ass all of his characters are, and I just wanted to yell, "Show me, don't tell me!!" It wasn't convincing. Too bad, since his story in the same setting in Powers of Detection was really quite good.
