adornment, part 2
Nov. 20th, 2007 07:44 pmA while back I posted about some body jewelry I was interested in, which I wound up not buying because of the cost and because none of it was quite exactly right. (Don't you hate that? I'm willing to go to great lengths and spend a surprising amount of money for that exactly right thing but it's often so hard to find.) Today, I also discovered that the bottom bead on a piece of my jewelry had fallen out. (It was the Chinese fortune symbol one, if you spend a lot of time looking at my belly. Maybe it will turn up again, maybe not.) So, I decided it was time to purchase some new jewelry.
Normally I shop at Tribalectic for body jewelry, but they haven't gotten in anything new for navels in quite a while, and I was starting to get a little bored. Since my piercing has been healed for years now, I figured I could try branching out and see what happened. I've looked in some real-life stores that sell navel jewelry - believe you me, I tried that first - but I don't actually need something that's UV reactive or has dice or a pot leaf hanging from it. Online we go!
It seems that the taste of body-jewelry buyers is improving. This I say. I looked on amazon.com, to see what I could see, and indeed, there were many lovely things TO see, and many of them were ranked high in the bestselling list. I ordered two pieces by Body Candy, which gets good reviews on the Intarweb. Can you guess what color they both were? Of course you can. I've gotten a little bit bored with the single-jeweled piercings I usually wear, so these will provide a bit of variety. They're cheap enough that if they don't work with my body chemistry or piercing depth (or if they're just not well-made enough) it won't be a big problem.
Here are some other things that I am tempted by:
Pearls! And they dangle! But not in an annoying way!
I love the color here.
I have one synthetic opal piece already, which I really like. This one has a great shape.
I don't know why I still don't have any ring jewelry for my navel.
Finally, I'm still tempted by this, even though it wouldn't go with anything of mine since it's gold.
In other news, I am planning on getting three more holes in my right ear. I'm hoping that will happen in the next few months. I'll keep you posted. And
syprina has made me beautiful earring sets for all my spaces! So nice. If you want to commission some jewelry, she's the person to ask.
