Does anybody have a clue as to why the main branch of the Cambridge library is closed with caution tape?

Or what that demonstration near the Littauer building was?

The CPL is having massive renovation/reconstruction/expansion on its main branch starting about 1.5 weeks ago. The staff have all been farmed out to other branches for the interim; I'm not sure what they're doing about the collections and how accessible they are.

When I was in the CPL recently, signs implied that they were more or less locking up large parts of the collection or transferring the holdings to other branches for the interim.

Demonstration near Littauer wuh?

Oh wait I know. It wasn't a demonstration. First year students just got assigned housing today. So people from the various houses give them T-shirts, hoot, holler and generally act obnoxious.
