1. Do you ever experience insomnia?
2. If you do, what form does it take? You have trouble falling asleep? You wake up in the middle of the night and can't get back to sleep? Something else? If you don't, please take a little nap for me right now and tell me how it felt, instead.
3. Have you ever used herbs, drugs or other medications in order to fall asleep or stay awake?
4. Whether through insomnia or other circumstances, how does not getting enough sleep impact you, physically and mentally?
5. Can you still function normally when you're short on sleep?
1. Do you ever experience insomnia?
I do, and in fact I experienced it just last night.
2. If you do, what form does it take? You have trouble falling asleep? You wake up in the middle of the night and can't get back to sleep? Something else? If you don't, please take a little nap for me right now and tell me how it felt, instead.
I have multiple forms of insomnia. Oooh yeah baby. That's right. Sometimes I have trouble falling asleep, sometimes I wake up from a nightmare in the middle of the night and can't get back to sleep or don't want to, and occaisionally when I'm depressed I wake up hours early for no obvious reason.
Last night, it took the form of being really really tired but unable to fall asleep. And waking up in the middle of the night and not being able to fall back to sleep.
3. Have you ever used herbs, drugs or other medications in order to fall asleep or stay awake?
If I have a cold I'm taking Sudafed for, I take Benadryl at bedtime so they'll cancel each other out, sleep-wise. Or sometimes I'll drink herbal tea - chamomile to go to sleep, mint or ginseng to wake up. I've never used anything stronger, it just seems like it would make things worse over time. But normally I just meditate, take a walk, or clean the apartment until I feel tired.
4. Whether through insomnia or other circumstances, how does not getting enough sleep impact you, physically and mentally?
It makes me cranky, clumsy, and forgetful.
5. Can you still function normally when you're short on sleep?
Define normally, heh heh heh. I have learned to still be professional and soothing while short on sleep, for my job. However, this did not work when I had a more intellectual corporate job. I cannot crunch numbers or write memos while short on sleep.
The Sleepy Questioner says: Can I go back to bed? Er, wait, no, sorry. She says: Don't forget your links!
