So, [livejournal.com profile] bryghtrose is the awesomest roomate ever because: she gave me the dark blue sweater I needed to get a full complement of colors for my upcoming lap blanket!

This is very exciting. Now I just have to take apart three sweaters, and I'll be ready to boogie! I even picked up some shiny stuff to trim it the other day at Windsor Button. So, you want to know, what the heck am I doing with all this stuff? Well, I'm going to make this pattern:

with all my blues and purples and grays, using a big hook so it's loosely woven. That's the plan. :)

I also went to Urban Renewal the other day with [livejournal.com profile] starkeymonster and [livejournal.com profile] mrpet and found three awesome frogging sweaters. One is the color that [livejournal.com profile] mrpet is fond of calling Godawful Pink but is really sort of an orchid. (Now, my new rubber purse, THAT'S Godawful Pink.) One is eggplant, and one is a pretty variegated pink and purple. I will have to come up with a whole new project for the pinks and purples. This is fun!

That spiral crochet is just gorgeous! I can't wait to see the finished product :)

And you had me thinking the whole time I was thrifting yesterday...I kept poking & prodding at sweaters & reading the fiber content on the lables and thinking "Hmm...this sweater is so ugly but the yarn would be lush in a scarf". Once I get some more of my UFO's done I think I'm going to try doing what you've been doing!

I have a beloved sweater, very big and heavy, that is on its last legs (again, after my mom repaired it once). It's a maroon ramie-cotton blend, nothing special but pleasantly soft. I keep wearing it because I hate to throw it out, but I'd be thrilled if you could rip it apart and reuse it, or know someone else who's into this "frogging" thing. Shall I foist it off on you?

Let me take a look at it, the next time I see you. Or, you can see if it has good seams. Take a look at this website:
http://www.thekittyzoo.com/recycledyarn.html

The third picture shows what good seams look like. If it has them, I can use it. If you do give it to me, I may be able to give you something back made out of it, and wouldn't that be cool? :)

Awesome store for Used Stuff in Allston. The prices are what you would expect from somewhere like Goodwill. The size of the place and the condition of the clothes is what you would expect from somewhere like The Garment District. Was turned onto it by [livejournal.com profile] starkeymonster.
