Yesterday, I had to drag myself out of bed to have breakfast with [livejournal.com profile] mrpet. I wanted to have breakfast with him, but my body didn't want to cooperate. I think that not getting quite enough sleep, plus the stress of travel, made my cold come back a little bit; I had a sore throat most of yesterday. Brunch was delicious again, and after it happened [livejournal.com profile] mrpet went to work and I went upstairs to have downtime. I now think that a nap would have served me better. After downtime, I successfully used the Marta for the first time, to visit the Lenox Square Mall. My goal was to be Intellifitted. An Intellifit is a fitting machine that uses lasers to measure you and then spits out a bunch of data about what clothes will fit you. I've been wanting to try one for a while.

The Intellifit in question was in a tuxedo rental place. When I went there, the guy in charge told me something like, "If you want to use this fitting for yourself, and then buy clothes, then don't. This is for the tuxedo rental industry and the measurements aren't applicable to other stuff." That doesn't make much sense to me. I'm hoping that I can get the numbers converted and use it for girl stuff. There is no Intellifit in New England - the closest ones are in Philly and Soho, so I thought this was a good opportunity. But, hey. Even if not, I now know my measurements for tuxedo rentals. In case that ever comes up.

After that, I went and hung out in the Panera of the mall, to destress and drink tea. Then I wandered around the mall and bought new sunglasses. The really big aviator sunglasses are in and it took me forever to find a pair that didn't look weird on me. I got a reminder about customer service in the South. I waited in line to buy those sunglasses for at least half an hour, while the staff chatted with each other and the customers, checked their email, turned the music up and down, drank coffee, and smiled a lot. At one point, one of the staff pointed out to me, "You know, those glasses and panties are on special, maybe that helps," and I only narrowly restrained myself from yelling, "What would help would be if you would check me out! Thanks so much!", thus revealing myself as a damned Yankee. Then I went back to Panera and had lunch. Then I reversed my steps on the Marta and the Tech Trolley to get back to the hotel and took a nap.

Post-nap, I felt better. I finished the book I was reading, and took a walk over to The Lucky Exchange, which may very well be the only business in Atlanta without AC. Toasty! I bought a belt I like. Then I headed back to the hotel, again, to meet [livejournal.com profile] mrpet for dinner. We went to Cafe Sunflower, a neat vegetarian place of the sort that uses a fair amount of "fake meat." I had cream of garlic soup and Polenta Napoleon, which were both very good, and carrot cake, which had too much, too sweet frosting but was otherwise delicious. I wanted to turn in after that. [livejournal.com profile] mrpet decided to explore the nightlife, and came back to report that both goth nights we had discovered online were now defunct. I think I kind of moaned in reply - I was too sleep to verbalize - but I do remember the conversation.

Yesterday also brought several new facts to light. 1) I do have to report for jury duty on Monday at 8 am. Urgh. 2) Another old friend of mine from Atlanta no longer lives here, but is visiting for the weekend, and plans to have dinner with us tonight. 3) Jim needs to stay in Atlanta through at least Monday for work purposes. Although potentially frustrating for him, this means that now our hotel room will be covered by his job for the weekend, not just for Thursday and Friday nights. Thus, our vacation has been further reduced in cost, to my plane ticket (probably - [livejournal.com profile] mrpet got a deal on them, so we may get the difference back) and whatever we spend on non-hotel food and entertainment/shopping. So yay.

Today, we're planning to check out another labyrinth, visit a yarn store, and possibly explore a store specializing in vintage punk clothing.
