More Than Ten Books
Meme from
supercheesegirl.
In this meme you list authors whose books you've read ten or more of.
Piers Anthony*
Francesca Lia Block
Lawrence Block
Lois McMaster Bujold
Mary Higgins Clark*
Helen Cresswell*
David and Leigh Eddings
Charles de Lint
Laurell K Hamilton
Robert Heinlein
Carolyn Keyes*
Mercedes Lackey
Tamora Pierce
David Weber
Starred books mean that I read ten books before adulthood. Most of those I probably wouldn't re-read, though I've been meaning to try Helen Cresswell again.
I have also definitely read more than ten books edited by Marion Zimmer Bradley, and more than ten books edited by Martin H. Greenberg.
One thing about this meme that's a little complex is that some authors just aren't that prolific. I've read everything written by Sharon Lee and Steve Miller, but it's only nine books. (The tenth is coming out this month - whee!) Or their books are long - I followed Robert Jordan for years, until I realized he had fallen prey to the X-files syndrome (in which your plot gets more and more complicated, with nothing ever being resolved) - I've probably read more pages of his work than Hamilton, just because her books are short and his are huge.
Another thought - sometimes when I really like an author, I try to ration them out. At sixteen, when hearing how many books Heinlein had written, I decided to only read one unread Heinlein a year, so that they would last me until into my forties. I choose a Heinlein every summer. Last year, of course I read For Us the Living. I haven't chosen next year's yet. I have already read most of the altsex classics he wrote. Does anyone else do that sort of thing?

Date: 2005-03-01 06:22 pm (UTC)V.C. Andrews (but not in a long time)
Piers Anthony (when I had more time)
Isaac Asimov
Clive Barker (only when I am in the mood to be scared)
Robin Cook (if not 10 then close to it)
Laura K. Hamilton
Robert Heinlein (also a big fan)
Ron Hubbard
Robert Jordan (I think I got bored in the 10th book and didn’t finish it) (This was my main craving when I was pregnant)
Stephen King (books/movies/audios - but none of these in the last 7 years)
Dean Koontz (I think at least 10)
Anne McCaffrey
Anne Rice (approx 20+ books)
John Saul (again I think 10)
Peter Straub books/works/co-authoring/editing = 10 at least
That’s all I can think of for now. Odd how the author names stop at S. Maybe I don’t read authors whose last names are above S. Or I just can’t think of any at this time.
