So, I just made this icon of Storm, my favorite character from X-Men. Using Paint. The image quality isn't great, but, well, it's Marvel.

Can anyone tell me how I would add text? I want it to say "child of the goddess" in the lower left. Possibly in purple. And, you know, if it can't be done in Paint, that's okay.

1. Make a backup copy of the icon.
   
2. Open it up in Paint.
   
3. Click on the "A" button to the left.
   
4. In the bottom left corner, there are two pictures of a green cube in front of a yellow background. Click on the bottom one, where the cube has no white around it. (This makes the background of the text transparent.)
   
5. Click on the shade of purple you want the text to be.
   
6. Click on the image, close to the bottom left corner. This will create a text entry box on the image, and the text toolbar will pop up.
   
7. In the toolbar, choose Small Fonts as the font, and size 7 to start with.
   
8. Using the little square handles on the text entry box, stretch it across the whole bottom of the image.
   
9. Click inside it, and type, "Child of the Goddess."
   
10. Using the handles again, move the edges of the box around to experiment with text placement.
    
11. Click on different colors to see what shows up best.
    
12. Try different fonts, or different sizes of fonts, or making it bold.
    
13. If some of the text vanishes, try making the text-entry box taller. (It probably line-wrapped.)
    
14. Experiment with turning the transparency on and off (the buttons from step 4).
    
15. When you have something you like, save it.
