Yesterday
mrpet and I went to see Lady in the Water.
I'm a fan of Shyamalan. I liked this movie but I didn't think it was his best. It was an interesting artistic choice that he revealed everything about the Blue World in the first few minutes of the movie, with the glyphs, which could have been tacky but were very well done. Also, I really don't think that he should have cast himself, especially not as a writer who's going to save the world. It felt too much like a Mary Sue.
I liked the fairy tale aspect, and there was definitely a hero's journey going on. I'd give it three stars, I guess.
ETA: Oh, yeah. I wanted to mention that I will never get used to the way people talk in the theater in Michigan. I find it very annoying.
While we were at the theater, there was a reference to the upcoming non-Joss Sarah Michelle Gellar as a retired vampire slayer thingeebob, The Return. I Googled it and it's coming out in November. I guess I'm going to have to see it, but I think I'm going to feel dirty afterwards.
