Okay, so I just can't stop posting today.

Today the new cat came downstairs yet again. (Possible new name, as suggested by catskillz - Kitty Suzuki.) She walked up to Pretzel, who was trying to look buff and intimidating and keeping her from walking onto the porch. She looked him in the face and meowed intently several times. He lowered his tail, then lay down and gave her a look of embarassment. Then she started walking around the living room, scent marking stuff.

Again, it feels like a good development.

ETA: the plan is that we will make a decision by Lammas, which is not that far away from now. By then, we need to either take her to the vet, get her vaccinated and spayed, or take her to a shelter so that they will get her vaccinated and spayed. This means we need to be able to pick her up. We'll see how it goes.

Yeah. She followed it up by chasing him halfway across the apartment when he tried to be first to eat the wet cat food.

It seems like she has decided this may be an exciting new home, and thus she must clarify the order of things.

Oh god. Now I'm imagining Pretzel as teh worst ninja apprentice ever. He would be chopping wood and carrying water for a long time. And so many bruises from teh master's walking stick.

She came down last night and layed down in front of the computer in the living room. She started rolling around (probably to rub off some shedding hair.) Pretzel cam over and did the same about a foot away. *so cute!*

she seems to have reached a point of confidence where, when i get near her, she starts but doesn't run. then, if i make an approach slowly enough, i can get to about two feet away before she'll hiss sort of half-heartedly - and even then, if i stay still, she doesn't run. still haven't managed to reach the point of petting her or getting her to sniff fingers, but this is a definite improvement!
