*Here, I'm using the term to refer to people who like having sex with lots of other people, and including myself in it.

How interesting!

What a fantastic piece of news! The only sadness I have is that I'm outside the age range for which this treatment has been approved. (That's the selfish response.) Also, will young adults be willing to pay $360 for this treatment? When you put it up against the cost and nastiness of cervical cancer, that might tip the scales, but who thinks at 18 that they can be smitten?

The cool thing is that you can get your doctor to prescribe medicines for "off-label use" once they have been FDA approved. So, you should still be able to get it.

I think that it's more likely that some parents will pay for their kids to have the vaccine. I will certainly pay for my kids to have it.

Heck yes, I'll join you in paying for my daughter(s) to get it. And if it becomes an issue, my friends' daughters as well.

I did notice, in another story, that it hadn't been approved for male use yet. I wonder why not, and if that can be changed. (As my first gynecologist said to me, "They don't pap men's penises.")

From what I understand, the testing on men hasn't been completed yet. As of a few months ago, Fenway was signing up gay men to test an HPV vaccine. Merck focused their testing on girls who probably hadn't been exposed to HPV yet.

It was only recently that they developed a test for HPV for men. I hope things will catch up soon!
