Last night, my sweet baby cat had to be put to sleep. He got very sick very quickly - he couldn't pick his head up. It was clear that he was no longer aware of anything and his energy had moved on.

Charlie was not short for Charles, as most people assumed, but rather Charlemagne, since he was such a dignified gentleman cat. Despite the occaisional begging for people-food, he was a very good boy. He would love on anyone who would let him - I used to say he was a Buddhist kitty, because he was motivated by love for all beings. He always seemed to know when someone was unhappy, and would lie on your chest and radiate serenity in all directions if you were sick or upset.

Charlie, I hope where you are now, there are all of your favorite things - sunlight, fat and lazy mice, windows to look out of, and warm laps to sit in. If we all get just what we want in the Summerland, I hope you're chasing a pork-and-guacamole burrito on little stubby legs right now. We'll miss you.

I am so sad on the passing of your sweet friend. May he be filled with all the pork and guacamole his tummy can handle.

Charlie reminds me of a beloved cat I lost years ago.
He was very sweet natured too.
I'm sorry to hear of Charlie's passing.
It sounds like he was much loved and, up until this unfortunate sudden illness, lived a contented life. The image of a cute grey stubby legged cat chasing burittos in the Summerlands is absolutely precious. Hey, Charlie, if you meet a cat about your shade of grey but with white tabby stripes, tufted feet, a squirel-like tail, and pale green eyes? That's Mr. Zoe. He's good company and maybe you can be afterlife buddies.

In the kitty afterlife, I think pork and guacamole help with hair balls and soothe the tummy.

Oh, sweetie.

I'm so sorry.

He's still there, though, just his little furry bits are gone.

*huge hugs*

I'm glad to have known Charlie, if only in a few brief moments. Beautiful and filled with love was he. I'm sorry he's no longer spreading his joy in this place. *hugs*

I figured it was the burritos that would have the stubby legs, if legs they had. It seemed cuter that way.

Hmm. Maybe it's me but I imagine that burritos would just sort of shimmy and swivel around without legs. Salsa cha-cha buuuuuuurito! That would make it more fun for the kitty stalk and pounce.

Oh, sweetie. I just now read this (catching up on LJ is a pain).

I'm soo sorry. I know that you loved him (and were loved by him) so very much.

But he's in kitty heaven with all the catnip there is. Betcha he's having a great time.

[many hugs]

Oh, I'm so sorry. I only just now got around to the last gazillion LJ entries. For me, at least, I find it comforting to know that he will be waiting for you in the Summer Country. You gave him a good home. I hope Pretzel is not too disoriented by his absence.

From: [identity profile] lady-anemone.livejournal.com
Yes, or he might come back and be my kitty again. We made a really good connection.

Pretzel will miss him, to be sure. We'll need to get another cat sooner than I would probably most want, so he won't be lonely.
