First, there was Chicks with Sticks by Elizabeth Lenhard. This is a chick lit meets knitting meets young adult kind of book. It was okay. I felt like the plot twists were too sudden. "We hate each other! Oh, we're best friends again," can sometimes be how high school works, but it came off as a little artificial. It was definitely diverting, though. Two stars.

Then, there was A Live Coal in the Sea by Madeleine L'Engle. I really like L'Engle, I have for a long time. Her book A Ring of Endless Light is one of my favorite treatments of death and depression. I liked A Live Coal in the Sea because it made me feel like my problems aren't really so huge. It was a little hard to tell whether it was intended as an adult book or a young adult book. The characters I felt I had the most in common with were not treated very sympathetically, which was interesting. Still, I'd give it three stars. It was solid and interesting. I kept reading it even after I thought I had the plot twists figured out (and I was wrong, too!). And that was book 45.

ETA: Finally, I am no longer maxed out on my library holds, yay! I'm looking forward to picking up a brand new pile of books and CDs later today.

Hey, are you going to read the Barbara Hambly trilogy I loaned you? If not, I should snag it back. And there were a couple of others, the Beauty Myth and the book on fertility. (Which reminds me, I'll try to remember to bring over the books for you on Friday.)

I am totally going to read that trilogy. I've taken it with me on three trips and then not read it. I am a terrible human being - I will give it back and take it out of the library. Sorry.

Nope, it's not at all a problem. If you intend to read them, that's fine; I was just commenting in case you'd forgotten or never really wanted to read them and had just taken them because I'd pushed them on you, or something.

You are not at all a terrible human being. You are, however, a dork. :)
