Feb. 15th, 2006 06:19 pmSo, I recently watched Kinsey, some more Highlander, and an episode and a half of 24. Right, and some CSI and some Law and Order. Oh, and the first disc of the first season of Stargate SG1. (I don't know what you were talking about,
rednikki, it's not THAT bad. Well, at least not when you compare it to Highlander.) And I've managed to catch a few episodes of The Closer.
So I've pretty much used up my yearly quota for television, and it's only February. I'm getting very bored with it. But I'll still tell you what I thought of everything.
Kinsey was terrific. I'd give it five stars. It was geeky and sweet and sexy and political. If you haven't seen it, then you should.
Highlander - the second season is a lot better than the first. Unfortunately, that's not saying much. The main character is pretty much a slut, and his sidekick gets on my nerves. But the plots are improving, although there are still an unfortunate number of long flashbacks to the first season.
24 - I've decided to stop watching it. Not because it's bad - it's an awesome show. It's totally original and gripping. I really admire what they've done with it. But when I get done watching an episode, or a batch of episodes, I feel emotionally spent, anxious, and somewhat depressed. So I decided to stop.
CSI, I really like, I've been a fan for a few years. (It was
bryghtrose that got me hooked.) I enjoy catching it on reruns in the evening. I like the witty dialogue, believable plots, and character development. The strong female characters are also good. It's interesting mystery stuff without usually being too violent. If you needed one more reason, it is great for learning how not to get caught deterring you from a life of crime.
Law and Order is a similar show but good in really different ways. It's formulaic, without a huge amount of character development, but the legal stuff is fun. If I were the type to want a daddy, I would totally want McCoy for mine. He's hot, especially when he is passionately pursuing justice, or making snide remarks. I also like Law and Order: Criminal Intent - the main character on that show is so much fun to watch.
Speaking of which, the TNT show The Closer is terrific. The main character rocks my world. I love everything about her. Last night, I watched the new episode with my sweeties. Possibly our favorite part was at the very end, where her boyfriend is kissing her. Behind her back, while he's kissing her, she's petting the cat... I love how catty she is, and how she gets people to do what she wants without going against her own ethical code. Kyra Sedgwick, you rock. Scriptwriters, you rock too. I almost never watch shows while they're running, but this is awesome. I really hope they release the first season on DVD, because I'd like to watch it.
Also, I made myself a new icon, with help from fey artist Neena Thomas. Check it out.
