How do you filter what comes up on your Friends page?

I know at least one person on my Friends list does this, so I know it can be done. But I don't know how, besides limiting who you list as a Friend, and that's not what he's doing.

Go to http://www.livejournal.com/ click manage / friends / edit custom friends groups. Create one. Name it something like "read". Then view the filtered list as http://www.livejournal.com/~lady_anemone/friends/read

These same groups can be used when posting - set the security level to "Custom...", then select the group.

Oh! Thanks. I know how to do custom friends groups, but didn't know you could read on that basis.

If you call it "Default View", it will come up automatically when you hit your friends page.

OK, go up to the toolbar, under Manage, click Friends. This should bring you to a page with an option to Edit Custom Friends Groups. This, in turn, will allow you to set up custom filters, and one of those is the Default View--decide who you want on that, and that's who'll come up when you go to your friends page, unless you specify "filter=0".
