I have been playing with Photoshop (yay!).

My question is this: I have a figure that has no background. Is there some way to automatically outline the figure in black? Because that's what I want to do before I add a background.

Thanks!

If you use the magic wand to select the figure (or the background and then invert the section) you can convert it into a border and then fill it. If you want the edges to be fuzzy, feather it a few pixels first.

How would I convert it into a border?

It should be in the selection menu or on the right click menu when you have the selection tool selected. You can set the border for any number of pixels you want.

I like playing with Photoshop just for fun. :) I always forget to use layers, though.
Have fun.
