I just got back from making a donation to
Youth On Fire, a program serving homeless youth in the Boston area.
Their current most urgent needs are for blankets, longjohns, games, and backpacks. I know we have a lot of gamers in the community - please consider if you have any games that you're not using, or whether you could afford to contribute, perhaps, some Cheap-Ass Games bought new. Also consider whether you have used blankets lurking in your closet that you don't need.
Please consider helping them out. Homeless youth are way underserved in our community, and generally very undeserving. Winter is a particularly difficult time for them, since by law they cannot get housing in homeless shelters, and as you may have noticed, Boston winters are COLD! (Federal law says that minors should be in the care of their parents or guardians, which is why they can't stay in homeless shelters.)
