Apparently I did something.

I don't know what I did, but now my screen display is a quarter of the size of the screen. It's surrounded by black. The windows and the task bar and everything are shrunk down and in the middle of the screen.

I don't particularly care how I did it - but how do I fix it?

On your laptop? If so it sounds like you changed your screen resolution. See if changing it fixes it. Right click in the desktop background and goto the settings tab.

I tried that. It did nothing. :(

hrmm, Try using the Fn key and pressing the various screen related functions along the number keys. The laptop may be a funky mode where it's trying to drive the LCD _and_ an external monitor and it is screwing with the graphics to make it work.

It should be set to 1024x768, the native resolution of your LCD display. If it looks too small you can press the advanced button on the settings tab and change the screen DPI (dots per inch) You may or may not have the right system fonts loaded for the various options.

Okay, the second time it worked, but the perspective is still off. My text is suddenly tiny. All my desktop icons are also suddenly tiny. Hmmm...

So before (the original problem) only a small part of your screen was occupied with actually displaying the stuff the computer ordinarily displays and the rest was black, right? Were the text and icons smaller than normal then?

And now, everything's smaller than normal, but the screen is fully used?

Did you do anything besides modify the screen resolution?
If things are too small for you, try decreasing the resolution some?
