One of the things I love most about Rachel is her wonderful, infectious laugh. You can hear it from across the room, and it is such a happy sound. Also, she's not afraid to laugh at herself.
Rachel is gorgeous but not conceited about it, and yet, she will not hesitate to tell you "you look FABULOUS!" when you most need it.
Rachel is an incredibly loyal friend. She is always willing to lend you an ear or give you a hug. In a case of unusual need, she once even sang me a happy song and did a little dance to go with it. It was incredibly effective and I will never ever forget it. Unlike many people, Rachel values her friendships enough to proactively work through issues that come up in them, rather than just letting things get worse and worse. She does not gossip maliciously, which is more than I can say for myself.
Rachel is extremely committed to her personal integrity. If it doesn't feel right to her, she simply won't do it, even if everyone else in the room is urging her on. She is strongly grounded in her own sense of self - I wish all the women in our society had just half of Rachel's ability to be in touch with herself.
She was also the genetrix of a fabulous party, the only one of its kind that I've ever heard of - The Vampire Porn Party. Oh, baby! Now that was a good time. (It was someone else's birthday? What are you talking about? Rachel is the author of all things fabulous!) She doesn't have parties very often, but when she does, they are always very well-planned, with a great mix of people and really delicious food.
Possibly what I most admire about Rachel is that she is extremely competent at her job, and more than willing to use her talents to help friends in need and do invaluable social work. The world needs more people who see their jobs as vocations, a calling to a higher purpose, a way to change the world. But we have a great start with Rachel.
