You're waiting with bated breath, thinking, "What's going on with her computer?"

Just kidding. Well, anyway, I installed an alternate floppy drive and created a rescue disk, which, if it works, will go in my safe deposit box, which I don't have yet.

I attempted booting the ailing computer from the rescue disk in safe mode. But apparently it didn't boot from the rescue disk. What do I do, other than just putting the disk in the drive before I turn the computer on and holding down the F8 key?

Also, [livejournal.com profile] mrpet did some tests on the memory and the hard drive. It didn't turn anything up.

I'm starting to feel at a bit of a loss.

In order to boot from the floppy you need to press the F12 key and then select the option 'Diskette' to boot from the floppy. When I do that it won't boot the disk. I'm thinking that the floppy disk on the PC and the one on the laptop are slightly out of alignment from each other. This can happen, and I have seen it before. I need to do some more checking and see if I can find the WinXP CD so we can try a boot CD recover.
