laptop not charging

So, my laptop is plugged in, but failing to charge.

This happened earlier in the week, too - when it ran out of battery it just turned itself off.

I'm guessing the first thing to do is try it with someone else's charger, and see if it works? Thoughts?

Either the battery won't hold a charge or your charger is not working. It sounds like the problem is teh battery. Dyke Marty's birthday present has given him the ability to see if the battery is charged. I suspect your husband has such a thing as well.

How long did the laptop last without the AC plugged in? There is no charger. It's an AC adaptor and it works since the laptop can be powered off of it. If someone has a Dell Latitude spare battery we could see if the battery is dead.
