mrpet found the problem with my computer and fixed it! One of the memory sticks was corrupt. He replaced it with a more powerful memory stick, and now the computer is running about as fast as my desktop. That's great! I had thought that the speed lag was coming from the library wireless network, not the computer - it's nice to have things speeded up.
It's also very nice not to have to wait in line or deal with rude people. I don't know why this branch has so many rude people. It's sad.
I think I'm going to bring the laptop with me this weekend, and just see if anywhere has wireless. Could be fun!
