About four months ago, my friend C taught me to crochet. Using this technology, I made a blanket out of Manos Cotton Stria. Granny squares, mostly lilac but some light red and some purple. I will post pictures once someone teaches me how. :)

About one month ago, [livejournal.com profile] starkeymonster reminded me how to knit. (My mother had taught me a very long time ago.) Using this technology, I made a black and green wool scarf for my partner J. I finished this about a week ago. It hasn't been blocked, nor have I finished the magick I was doing on it. I'm not exactly sure how I'm going to get him to leave it in the house so I can finish it.

Last weekend, [livejournal.com profile] starkeymonster, [livejournal.com profile] cathijosephine and I had a yarn orgy. My partner drove us out to Northampton, where we had lunch with [livejournal.com profile] bearsir, and then went to Webs discount yarn warehouse. Many items of fiber were purchased. I got:

- enough red Debbie Bliss cashmerino to make a cute beret for myself
- nameless gorgeous chunky wool in mauve and eggplant to turn into a shawl for myself
- green wool to make a hat for an_gadhar
- greenish cotton to make a hat for starkeymonster
- multicolored wool to knit stockings for myself
- wool and fluffy nylon stuff to make mittens for someone

Basically, it's all about ME!!

Sadly, the yarn was not cheap enough to do charity projects from. Starkeymonster and I will have to order some online for that.

Currently, I am almost done with the adorable red beret. It just needs a brim. Or, more to the point, I just need to figure out how to add a brim without it suddenly no longer fitting on my head.

Woo hoo!

Red beret!

I am very excited to see it. It must be all kinds of soft and wonderful.

Welcome. I must thank you for this, if for no other reason than that the predictions about my immediate descent to hell are made somewhat less worrisome by the news that, at the very least, I won't spend eternity sweating under my binder. ::grin:: But also, it gets easier and easier to monitor keep updated with my friends and associates when they join the hive mind community.

Also - if you want to link to LiveJournal users, list them as [lj user="starkeymonster"], except change the brackets to carets, so you get [livejournal.com profile] starkeymonster.

My pleasure. Thanks for the info about including other users in posts. (Is there a way to change posts you've already made? I notice now that I didn't even spell a particular handle correctly, which is embarassing...)

If you look at your toolbar, under 'Manage', it gives you an option for 'entries,' which you can use to edit whatever you've already written. No way to edit comments, though, except the kludgey but useful "copy, delete, paste, fix, and repost" method, which I only use in dire circumstances.

Also - when you're replying to a comment (as you have here) as opposed to an entry, use the wee li'l 'reply to comment' link. That way, I get an email telling me that someone has replied to my comment. I just happened to notice this one, but otherwise I might never have known.

thanks!

That was very helpful, once I stopped ignoring your wise instructions in favor of tripping over my own feet.
