So, since my navel piercing is totally healed up, I now have the option of putting in some other jewelry. Does anyone have suggestions of good places to look online or in Boston? If it's in Boston it needs to be accessible by T.

I went and looked at the store in the Garage. They had a lot of navel jewelry but it was all totally horrifying - little bows made out of rhinestones and stuff. Plus none of it was even in plastic bags, it was just laying out there. Ugh.

Anyway, it's a relatively high gauge (maybe a sixteen? Sarah?) which I'm not planning to stretch.

Industrial Strength and Anatometal are good brands. Any place that sells body jewelry should be able to custom order stuff for you without any problems.

If they have an autoclave and autoclave (sterilize) the jewelry for you for free I wouldn't worry about how they're displaying it.

14 gauge :)

I'll ditto [livejournal.com profile] darxus's suggestions. It really depends on what you want - there are some specialty folks that do gorgeous work, but they are hard to track down. If you get an idea of what you're looking for, let me know and I'll go through my catalogs to see if someone has them :)

Well, I just spent some time looking through the Tribalectic website, since I know J has gotten some awesome jewelry there. These were my favorites:

Tombstone Ti 14ga, 3/8" Blackline Etch Banana-Chinabell
Tombstone Ti 14ga, 3/8" Blackline Etch Banana-Spirabell
Good Art Ti 14ga, 716 in. Fractal BBell Butterfly (BVSJB) - Plain Polish

I also liked the Titanium spike ends on Industrial Strength.

Basically I'm looking for something that's a little different from the standard jeweled barbell. I would love to find something a little tribal, like that pair of earrings that J has, though I imagine it wouldn't be for everyday.

I have a suggestion where not to go: Hot Topic. It seemed cheap and pretty, so I got one, stuck in it alcohol, and put it in one morning. I hadn't even gotten 15 minutes into my commute before the ball fell off, and the rest followed by the time I'd gotten to work. Money down the drain.

However, other cheap stuff has seemed to be fine (including stuff from the JG in the Garage)--no problems with infection even though I'm prone to it, so that was ok.
