Reason for Reading: I enjoy the main character and thought it would be fun to read a book set in England while I was in England.

Best part: The intertwining of the various plots of the book.
Worst part: One plotline concerning an orphaned child was tied up too quickly and neatly for my liking.
Imaginary Theme Song: Jeepers Creepers by Louis Armstrong
Grade: C+
Recommended for: Fans of the series, or those who are curious. It would make a good entree.

In Maisie Dobbs' third outing, she defends a young girl from a murder charge and tries to solve the mystery of what really happened to a downed pilot during the war. Her old loyalties and friendships will be tested to the limit as she seeks to discover if the truth is always the right answer.
I thought this book was better than the previous installment, Birds of a Feather, which is always a lovely sign. I liked that it was pretty long. It would make a good read for the beach or the plane.
