Title: Water: Tales of Elemental Spirits
Author: Robin McKinley and Peter Dickinson
Series: First in their series of elemental anthologies.
Genre: Short work, fantasy, YA.
Setting: An underwater kingdom, a farm, a small religious town...
Reason for Reading: I was craving more of this author after another read-aloud of The Blue Sword, my favorite of her books.
Finished In: Weeks, but not many of them.
Pages: 266
Copyright Date: 2002
Cover: A merperson with flowing hair and fins holds what might be a crystal ball, showing the sky. The surface of the water is above their hair. There are fish all around.
First line: "Her name was Pitiable Naismith."
Best part: It was hard to tell who wrote which stories.
Worst part: The one Damar story, the last one in the book, was bleak.
Imaginary Theme Song: "Send Down the Rain"
Grade: B. Not life-changing but really beautiful.
Recommended for: I think anyone who likes McKinley should give this a try.
Related Reads: Waters Luminous and Deep by Meredith Ann Pierce. Quatrain by Sharon Shinn.

This book packed a surprising punch for its size. Recommended.
