the strangest ways of doing outreach

Setting: My doctor's office, where the staff is public about being fairly strict Christians, some of them fundamentalist. I have told them I'm a pagan but they don't know about my lifestyle.

Receptionist: "LadyA, tell me what you think. Yesterday I was at church and I met a guy who was so handsome I wanted to get down on my knees and ask him to marry me. If you tell me I should than I will."
Me: "Well, I do hear that it is illegal to marry more than one person in this country... but I think that is a little antiquated."
Her: "I know, right? I think so too!"
Me: "If your husband is okay with it, then I say go for it."
Her: "He doesn't have to know. I'll keep it a secret."
Me: "I doubt that would work, but in my opinion it's fine as long as you have your husband's permission."
Her: "Really?"
Me: "Yes."

I wasn't joking. I'm not sure if she was, though the getting down on her knees thing sounded a little suspicious.
