Cover: A woman wearing a hat and matching jacket stands in front of a car. There are crane machines in the background. She's holding either a fish or a purse, and white birds are flying around her. The fish hypothesis would explain that better.
First line: "Maisie Dobbs shuffled the papers on her desk into a neat pile and placed them in a plain manila folder."
Best part: Development of Maisie's relationships.
Worst part: I saw the reason for the murder coming about a mile away. It was, imo, too obvious.
Imaginary Theme Song: "Bad Girls"
Grade: C+
Recommended for: Those who enjoy the period between the world wars. Fans of the first book.
