Title: A Palm for Mrs. Pollifax
Author: Dorothy Gilman
Series: Mrs. Pollifax #3
Genre: Mystery
Pages: 191
Copyright Date: 1973
Cover: A briefcase marked "Danger" with a radioactivity symbol on it sitting next to a potted palm. (Not very subtle!) All of this is behind the title and author font, which is enormous.
First line: "It was morning and Mrs. Pollifax was seated on the floor of her living room, legs crossed beneath her as she tried to sustain the lotus position."
Best part: Funny and short.
Worst part: Now that I've read a few of these, the pattern is starting to get predictable.
Grade: C
Recommended for: Fans of the series.
Related Reads: The Unexpected Mrs Pollifax by the same author, Miss Melville Regrets by Evelyn Smith.
I think for me, this series is starting to lose steam. The previous book was more interesting.

Date: 2009-03-25 12:59 pm (UTC)I tried re-reading them recently and just couldn't get caught back up into them. I don't know if it was the formula, the crazy stereotypes, or the lack of cell phones (OMG, GET SOME TECHNOLOGY HERE, STAT!), but I set the books down and sighed.
