So, [livejournal.com profile] mrpet is making me an angry anti-Xmas music. The songs do not have to be about Christmas, they just need to be angry. Anti-Christian, anti-mainstream, and anti-capitalism songs would all fit very well. Generic anger is also good. Feminist wrath is quite nice.

So far my best ideas are Aenima by Tool, Burning Times or similar by Inkkubus Sukkubus, and After the Flesh by Thrill Kill Kult. Any other suggestions?

Le Tigre might be good. I forget the name of the song with the lyrics "Can we trade Title IX/ for an end to hate crime/RU-486/ if I suck your fucking dick"

With the help of google, I am able to tell you that the name of the song is FYR. Thanks for the suggestion! I love angry women.

I've always liked Christmas At Ground Zero, by Weird Al. But it's perky. It's about Christmas being nuked off the map, but is perky.

So, my immediate thought was not my idea by Garbage just as a plain angry song.

Also, have you listened to any Bitch and Animal?

Much like Die Hard is my favorite Christmas movie, the Pogues fairytale of new york is my favorite christmas-related song, but I'm not sure it's solidly anti-christmas.

Clutch, Cop Shoot Cop, Bad Religion, & L7 are usually on my personal playlist this time o' year.

My short list of feminist wrath recommendations:
-Bikini Kill
-Heavens to Betsy
-Julie Ruin
-Delta Dart
-Excuse 17

A lot of these bands tend to be on the screamy side, but I can try to put together some songs that have less scream and more actual melodic influence. [while maintaining proper levels of wrath, of course]

I just burned a cd with a bunch of songs that might be useful for the mix. I don't know if it will be too late, but I can bring it over on Tuesday.

That was so thoughtful of you! Please do bring it by. Since this is an mp3 player mix rather than a CD mix it will be a work in progress for a long time. Until Xmas, at least.

I recommend Sleater-Kinney for angry and feminist music.

Also, Tom Lehrer's Christmas Carol completely captures what I think of the season.
