The clothing swap was really fun. Everyone who came found at least a few things they were really glad to have. It was fun both to find things that suited me, and to see some clothes I have historically been attached to finding new and happy homes. Suggesting things for other people to try on was probably the best part.

We wound up with eleven garbage bags worth of clothes to give away to charity. Six of them went to a nearby Planet Aid drop-off box. The rest are going to be divided between Davis Square Goodwill and Boomerang in JP. If anybody happens to have a car available to them who could take care of the JP run in the next few days, that would be totally awesome - the person who had volunteered for that duty never showed up. I don't have a car and it would be pretty expensive to take a taxi that far.

Behind the cut I describe the clothes I got...

- two pretty sundresses, one white with purple and green designs, one black with purple flowers
- a black satin corset from Freddy's
- a sage green sweater to frog
- a shirt that says "no one knows I'm a lesbian"
- a sensible black cardigan (perfect timing, too, because one of my two is on its last legs)
- two pretty flirty ruffly shirt-dresses
- a perfectly fitted reddish-purple dress shirt

We will definitely be repeating this. It was lots of fun!

i've been told through the grapevine that it's possible to take significant tax deductions for donating the leftovers from a clothing swap. you might want to at least count the number of articles of different kinds (sweaters, jeans, etc.) that you drop off. assuming you donate to a tax-exempt charity, you might be able to claim some deduction next year.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll have to ponder whether it's worth opening all those garbage bags back up again. But you're right, it could definitely save some money.

if you itemize, make a count of what's being donated and estimate or look up their used value (i think either the Goodwill, Salvation Army, or IRS maintains lists) and get the harity to sign a receipt.

sorry i missed out- we were still in class! then very hungry and tired after class. i hope you run another one!
