Today was my bookswap. It was a lovely time and there were tons of books and people. [livejournal.com profile] teratomarty, [livejournal.com profile] mrpet, and L were all super helpful in keeping things running smoothly. [livejournal.com profile] trouble4hire provided cheezy biscuits and a marvelous sense of calm (and not just to me!) [livejournal.com profile] tsuj went out of her way to drop off the hardcover books at More Than Words after we were done. And everyone who was there while we were closing up was great about pitching in to pack the books away.

Of course, I could not resist grabbing a few tasty titles for myself. Joining my collection are:

Blue Moon by Lori Handeland
My Immortal by Erin McCarthy
Lies My Teacher Told Me by James W. Loewen
The Crow: The Lazarus Heart by Poppy Z Brite
The Simpler Life by Deborah Deford
Herbal Salads by Ruth Bass

And two special books I'd been wanting for a while - Written on the Body by Jeanette Winterson and Wild Side Sex by Midori. And, okay, I did pick up The Adobe Story for my sister. But considering I put close to seventy books in the "out" pile, I feel I was pretty virtuous. Make that "very virtuous." Of course, it helped that I had hostess duties - I couldn't stare at the books like a hawk every single second. :)

I hope that everyone who came had as good a time as I did. :)

At this point, we are decided - our next swap will be of music and movies. To be specific, CDs and DVDs. :) See you then.

Written On The Body is seriously phenomenal. It's my favorite book of hers. ENJOY!

I'm really glad you had fun. :) I've thought about doing one of those myself.

Thanks for hosting. It was cool to hear what goodies you came away with. Unlike you, I ended up with about the same amount as I donated.
I got some great books, here are some:

(I left them in the car, so don't have a full tally)
The Mists of Avalon -- an old favorite that bears rereading
the final book from Pullman's Golden Compass trilogy -- I was waiting for a friend to lend me hers)
2 Alice Hoffman books
A behind the scenes look at making "The Sound of Music" -- A great film. I had read Maria Von Trapp's auto bio- nothing like the film, but fascinating
A post Hitchhiker's book by the late, great Douglas Adams
A Margaret Atwood book
There may be 1 or 2 more I'm forgetting.

Oh! And a whole honkin' heap'a'Harry Potter stuff *squeeeeeeee*

FYI: The peolple at More Than Words were very appreciative of the donation.

I'm sad I couldn't make it to this event - it sounds like it kicked ass! Glad it was successful and that you walked away with some excellent books for yourself!

Oh, PS. If you had a bookswap, I would definitely try to be there!

Oh, you're so welcome! I'm glad we could make it work for you. It was fun to have Brodie there. She's a good girl. :)
