Yesterday while Jim was at the Super 88 he bought some dried shrimp and dried anchovies for the cats.

He put each package in a Ziploc bag to keep the cats from having a seafood orgy.

I just woke up and discovered that Pretzel, the crazy one, had chewed the Ziploc part of the bag entirely off, and made many punctures throughout. He was only just prevented from getting into the package itself, mainly by not being able to "outthink" it, because it was open.

I took the bag away and put it on top of the TV cabinet - about the only surface in the house the cats can't reach, because it's around seven feet high. He stared at it for a while. Then I gave him a dried fish I'd taken out of the bag.

He didn't want it. It's still lying on the floor.

Then matters were illuminated - I discovered the bag of dried shrimp, which had been completely chewed open in several places. The shrimps were all over the floor. Some cats I know spoiled their appetites for other food during the night.

Clearly, Ziploc bags are not going to get the job done.

Once during a camping trip I left a ziplock back of trail mix by the firepit while I went to get watter further up the trail. When I returned I found a chipmunk stuck in the bag...he got his head and front paws in through a hole he had made but his bum was too big to fit and he couldn't back out. Ended up wrapping him in a bandanna and cutting the bag off.
